Teo Becher

Born in 1991, I grew up in Nancy in north-east France. Since 2011, I have been based in Brussels where I live and work. I have a bachelor’s degree in photography from ESA Le 75 and a master’s degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

My practice focuses on the landscape and questions about its use, exploitation and representation. Through my projects, I try to reflect on our relationship with what we call nature and to explore our understanding of it. I find interest in places where human activities and the natural world intertwine, questioning their separation and elaborating on a ‘new nature’.

In Brussels in 2020, I co-created the collective and artist-run-space La Nombreuse, made up of eight photographers and an art historian. Situated in St-Gilles, we opened a protean space, part studio, part exhibition space, among other events centered around photography.
