Sara Manente (IT/BE) is an artist, choreographer, dramaturg, and performer based in Brussels. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Bologna, where she developed an interdisciplinary thesis on the semiotics of dance, and has been affiliated with a.pass (Advanced Performance and Scenography Studies) since 2008, both as a participant in the postmaster programme and within its research centre. In 2021, she was artist-in-residence at WIELS. Her work is shaped by a transdisciplinary approach and a sustained interest in sharing knowledge and practices through collaborative formats. Drawing on the imagery and materiality of living cultures and mycelium in relation to live arts, her recent projects explore forms of contamination between pedagogy, research, performance, and publication.

Her installations have been presented at Kunstmuseum Bochum, EPFL (Lausanne), and in Brussels at Pilar/VUB, nadine, and Constant. She has shown performance and video work across Europe, Brazil, and South Korea, including at Kaaitheater, Beursschouwburg, Monty, Extra City, WP Zimmer, BUDA, de Brakke Grond, Serralves, Teatro Rivoli / Campo Alegre, La Casa Encendida, Mercat de les Flors, La Poderosa, Tanzquartier, Dansateliers, and Space Hamilton. She has also participated in numerous international festivals such as Hyperlocal (Milan), Far Festival (Nyon), Beyond the Black Box (Amsterdam), The Image Generator (Antwerp), Live Arts Week (Bologna), Museum as Performance (Porto), Panorama Festival (Rio), Festival BOM (Seoul), ImPulsTanz / 8:tensions (Vienna), Latitudes Contemporaines (Kortrijk), Asian Arts Theatre’s 2012 (Gwangju), WTP (Brussels), and Uovo Festival (Milan), among others.
